Land for Wildlife The Castlemaine Golf Club is home to some 60 species of birds as well as large and small mammals. One of the very rare birds is the Swift Parott, bird clubs have visited the course just to view these rare birds. Over the last few years the club has joined the local land care group and embarked on a large tree planting project to continue to provide habitat for the local species. Future plans include nesting boxes and more tree planting to replace trees lost in the resent drought. Although not good for the one’s golf game the distraction of the wild life more than makes up for any unsuccessful golf shots.
